A newborn baby who was unable to make their own decision. People didn’t think much of this mother’s idea on social media.

The good thing about the internet is that it’s a place where you can find practically anything. And the bad thing about the internet is that it’s a place where you can find practically anything. As it’s a portal that’s just waiting to be filled with information from all over the world, social networks or Reddit are brimming with attention-grabbing stories, not all of them positive.

And the strangest of these stories have to be the ones where the person featured in them believes that they are doing something good, and the rest of the site’s users make it clear to them that, in fact, that isn’t the case. Subreddits like r/Thrashy are teeming with this kind of story.

And the story that’s got everyone on this subreddit talking was shared by the user u/renaissance_witch. Her picture spoke volumes: it showed the nails of a newborn baby, filed into the glamorous talons of an older woman.

Generally the reactions provoked by the content shared on this page are laughs or jokes: it was created with the intention of making light-hearted fun of people with very unrefined taste. But the reactions to the photo of this baby’s nails were different. People were angry.

The main criticism was how dangerous it is for a baby to have nails as sharp as this:

“My wife and I just had a baby and this is so true. The amount of times I’ve seen him scratch his own face and cry in the first weeks is like in the double digits. Most of the time he wears gloves now. Also does she not breast feed? My wife screams regularly from our son pinching her nipples and breast with his nails, even through gloves.

Another person thought the same::

“As a parent who cut both children’s nails from birth on mostly because mom was fearful of cutting while trimming them – this has to be some sort of joke a parent did with press on nails. A waste of time in my opinion but no way would anybody smart enough to conjure this up would leave them on”

Very few people agreed with the “glamorous” decision of giving a baby a manicure. And the few people who did, were quickly found out to be people who were just looking to stoke controversy.

Surely nobody can consider this a good idea.
