The woman put her car window down so that Libra could enjoy her favorite pastime for 30 minutes. Half an hour of peace and calm, so that the dog could feel the wind on her face and close her eyes while looking at the countryside that had made her so happy for so many years.
Little Libra joined the Kramer household 15 years ago when she was just a puppy, a cross between a pit bull and other breeds. The friendly pup quickly became the closest and most loyal companion of April, the family’s daughter, who was just 8 years old at the time. As the years went by, Libra became an invaluable member of this united and friendly family and she also found a feline friend in the family’s cat Maxwell.
Many years later, both April and Libra had grown up and were inseparable thanks to the confidence and friendship forged between them. Only death could part them, something that, very sadly, recently came to pass. The health of the then elderly Libra began to deteriorate and she started to suffer from violent tremors. As a result the family took her to the vet, where they discovered cancerous tumors in her lungs. The family took Libra back to the vets many times after that to explore treatment options, however, Libra’s fate was sealed.
Libra was in a lot of pan and she had only a few days left to live. The poor dog’s bladder was failing, leaving her in unbearable agony which made the family realize that it was time to let her go. But April didn’t want to part with her beloved Libra without thanking her for her unconditional and eternal love. For her, the years she’d spent with Libra were priceless treasures and the least she could do for the dog that gave them to her was to say goodbye in the best possible way. A car ride was the thing that Libra liked most, as she loved sticking her head out of the window while the car was moving.
That’s how they ended up having their last car ride together on the way to the vet, according to LittleThings. And on the way, April decided to put the car’s windows down so that Libra could spend 30 minutes enjoying her favorite pastime. Half an hour of peace and calm, so that Libra could feel the wind on her face and close her eyes while looking at the countryside that had made her so happy for many years. During her final hours Libra was happy and calm as she felt loved and could enjoy the things that had brought her the most joy in life. Today Libra rests in peace, after loyally dedicating her existence to her friend April.
