The Homeowners Association informed him that he couldn’t hang the flag in his yard because it might disturb other neighbors. His response was simply epic.
This neighborhood in the United States has gone viral in the last week. It has been a while since they had implemented a policy of not hanging flags in their yards through the Homeowner Association (HOA) as a product of the Black Lives Matter movement.
The owners of this property ignored these «new rules» that were against freedom, so they proudly hung their gay pride flag.
The association banned them from displaying their flag in the garden, but their response was simply epic: they lit up the entire property.
Since the ridiculous ban applied only to flags, the neighbors could do nothing to stop the proud owner.
“Due to some neighbors flying BLM flags, Thin blue line flags, and other opinion flags, our HOA decided last month that we’re only allowed to fly the USA flag, and nothing else. The day after the decision, we receive an email that someone reported our Pride flag (that we had in our house since 2016), and that we needed to take it down. We complied and removed the flag.”

The HOA folks were stumped.

Upset by the situation, but also proud of his big win, the neighbor took to the social platform Reddit to share his funny story.
“Looking through our new rules, we noticed that removable lights are permitted without restriction so… we bought 6 colored flood lights, and we washed our house in pride colors. A little less subtle than our simple flag. A lot more fun for anyone complaining about the flag itself and what it represents.”

Obviously, the situation went viral, and the neighborhood became well known for its bizarre ban. The author of the post received hundreds of comments in support of his decision.
“HOAs are mind-boggling to me, especially in a country like America, where everyone supposedly values their freedom. You are paying tons of money to own a house that is rigidly subject to what other people want. I don’t understand it,” mentioned one of the most prominent comments. .

There are many cases like this around the world where, in the face of prohibition and intolerance, love and empathy triumph.
