«I couldn’t be with a person who makes me split the bill (…) It’s like a bucket of ice water,» said Chilean Adriana «Lioness» Barrientos, a model and TV and network personality. According to her, men «have to be generous» with women.
If this used to be very clear, today it’s become a somewhat vaguer and more old-fashioned concept. «Being a gentleman» is something that has been ingrained in all of us men, but in recent times, we have realized that such behaviors could even become offensive and unnecessary.
However, that isn’t the case for Adriana Barrientos, a Chilean model and showbiz personality, who stated that she couldn’t tolerate being with a man who would make her pay even the smallest amount in a restaurant.

In an interview with host Pamela Diaz in her program «Sin Editar» (“Unedited”), Barrientos – 41 years old – assured that she wouldn’t have liked to be a man because she thinks they have a «super complicated» role.
«How problematic, imagine that. It’s super complicated. A man’s life is more difficult. I mean, for me, (…) I’ve always been maintained. Can you imagine going out to eat with a guy you like [and he tells you]: ‘Girl, you have to pay?’»

In turn, the model – known in Chile as «La Leona» (“The Lioness”) – assured that she has never had to pay a restaurant bill because the other person never pretends to not know how things work. She doesn’t accept proposals to pay half, either.

«I’d die. I couldn’t be with a person who made me split the bill. It chills me, girl, it chills me. It’s like a bucket of ice water. Forget about it. It could be Brad Pitt, but you tell me ‘you have to pay half the bill’ and that man will never see my panties in his life.»

For Barrientos, one of the great values that a man should have is generosity. «That word that has to characterize them. Men have to be generous with women».
On the other hand, Pamela Díaz commented that these are times in which women are more empowered and freer from the classic structure, and that «today we pay almost everything the same». However, Barrientos also pointed out that she and her friends spend absolutely nothing when they are invited to a restaurant.
