«You can’t imagine how many times I’ve seen this man overload himself with work so that I could study (…) gluing and sewing shoes,» wrote Diana Perez Jara, who wanted to thank Derlis, the man who raised her.

When students finish school, it’s normal for them to want to continue their education at university. However, for many, it is an almost impossible dream since there are countries where tuition and monthly fees are very expensive and almost inaccessible for a certain percentage of the population.

That is why many parents have to work hard to help their children achieve their academic dreams. Sometimes, this isn’t enough, and they must resort to student scholarships to make the payments possible.

A story of this kind was recently published on Facebook, where a young Paraguayan woman, Diana Perez Jara, told how she gave a motorcycle to her father as a way of thanking him for paying for her two university degrees by working as a shoemaker.

According to what the young woman wrote, one day she approached her parents to tell them that she wanted to study Law and Clerkship at the university, but her mother told her that they could only afford one degree.

«Crying, I went into my room (…) until he came up to me and said: “I’m going to work until my fingers hurt, but you’re going to study Law and Clerkship”. You don’t know the smile he put on my face, and I was the happiest daughter,» she wrote.

The man in question is identified by Diana as «Don Derlis«, who is actually her adoptive father since her biological father died in an accident when she was one years old. «You can’t imagine how many times I’ve seen this man overload himself with work so that I could studyshe added.

According to the young woman, from then on, Derlis collected all the money he had from «gluing and sewing shoes«. Although he didn’t earn much, he was able to pay for both of Diana’s degrees, and she didn’t hesitate to repay him for the gesture he did.

«I never let my parents down, and I successfully completed my studies. Life rewarded me, today I can give them a little of what they gave me,» she explained.

In addition to his work as a shoemaker, Derlis dedicates the hours of his day to running an abandoned dog shelter. He rides his motorcycle to rescue puppies that he later takes to the shelter. According to the young woman, this motorcycle is already «very old«, so she decided to give him a new one.

Diana published a photo where she appears with her father and the motorcycle. «He gave me two university degrees, and I gave him this. Congratulations to the noblest gentleman,» the young woman said in her post.
