The image circulated the world as it showed a little girl assisting her younger brother as he battled leukemia. «We’re seeing more of a normal child (…) It’s really great. He’s grown in confidence,» said their mother.

When a child has a serious illness, the whole family goes through a difficult time since it involves complicated treatments and a lot of uncertainty.

In this context, a story recently became known of a mother who shared some photos showing her young son, who was in the middle of chemotherapy for his leukemia, being assisted by his older sister.

Kaitlin Beckett

This is Beckett, a little boy who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 2018, when he was 2 years old. From then on, he had to fight this disease, accompanied by his mother, Kaitlin Burge, and his sister, Aubrey.

However, just as he has had to go through tough times trying to make it through, such as not being able to see his family or his friends, and having to withstand harsh chemotherapies, now his story has a new hopeful chapter.

According to information from the Daily Mail, Kaitlin reported that the doctors gave her son a clean bill of health. In fact, he no longer had to be hospitalized and was notified that he could return to school.

According to his mother, the bond they formed between siblings was instrumental in Beckett’s recovery as well as in keeping his spirits up. «They developed a bond that only siblings have that I couldn’t even replace,» she explained.

The boy has been able to return to class and reconnect with his classmates after not being able to attend for a long time. In addition, he said he was regaining the same energy he had before and was overcoming the educational problems he once had as a result of chemotherapy.

«He was really foggy brained and didn’t understand a whole lot (…) Now, it’s interesting to see. We were sitting at the table the other day and he was reading,» his mother detailed.

In addition, he has been able to regain his confidence and has begun to go about his life in a normal way. «We’re seeing more of a normal kid (…) It’s really cool and boosts his confidence,» Kaitlin added.

Although he suffers some consequences from the chemotherapies, such as some pain in his legs, Beckett plays with his sister every day, just as he did before. «They can play as normal siblings now(…) They’re playing outside together and being kids, now» she said.
