Henry explained that the owner, who was a merchant, hadn’t been aware that he’d lost his cash. «You have to do things the right way. Give back what isn’t yours,» he added.
People can be very forgetful and absent-minded at the most inopportune times, especially when they have to concentrate on carrying valuables down the street, such as large sums of money.
This can happen to anyone who is walking around with backpacks with cash in them, either to pay a bill or to make a transaction.

This is what happened in the city of Villa María, Argentina, where a young man found a backpack lying in the street containing $4,600 in cash. Upon having it in his possession, the boy, named Henry, realized he had to return it, since it could be very important to its owner.
However, he ran into a problem. «I grabbed it and two people said it was theirs. I didn’t know who the owner was. Neither of them owned it weren’t because as soon as I told them I knew the person who had lost the backpack, they left. There are people who try to claim what isn’t theirs,» he explained.

Since it was a backpack of great value, the young man went to a store to open it and count the money inside. There he realized that the owner might be looking for it in great distress, so his mission was to identify who that person was.
Fortunately, the owner’s documents were in one of the pockets of the backpack, where his name and telephone number appeared.

After several attempts to contact the person, Henry found the owner. Quite unlike what he thought, the owner of the tickets hadn’t even realized he had lost the backpack. «He didn’t know he had lost the money and only found out when we told him,» the young man said.
At that point, he told him that it was money he needed to pay the bills. «‘It’s my life,’ he told me, and I reassured him so that he would know that all the money was there,» Henry added.

The owner of the bag, a merchant, told him that he was going to use that money to pay his workers’ salaries. In addition, Henry said that the man was so relieved and happy about the young man’s gesture that he invited him to eat lunch as a sign of gratitude.
«You have to do things the right way. Give back what isn’t yours. He wants to give me a gift, but a thank you is enough,» Henry said.
