«I told him to study hard, do his part and I promised him that if he got into med school, I would get a tattoo. Neither when I was 20 nor when I was 90 years old did I ever imagine getting a tattoo. But I promised, and we have to keep our promises,» said Libia Guerreiro do Valle.
You’re never too old to do different things and dare to try new experiences in life. This is now well known by a grandmother from Goiania, Brazil, who has become famous for getting a tattoo at the age of 91. However, the most interesting thing is the reason behind this adventure.
This is the case of Libia Guerreiro do Valle, who had made an interesting promise to her grandson. It never occurred to her that she would mark her body with ink. She was never interested in doing so, but now there was a special reason.

Now the grandmother carries on her arm a figure of Our Lady of the Conception Aparecida, the virgin whom she devotedly worships. This all happened after she promised her 19-year-old grandson that she would get a tattoo if he got into medical school. After Pedro Henrique Guerreiro de Queiroz was selected for this career, his grandmother kept her promise.
«I told him to study hard, do his part and I promised him that if he got into med school. I would get a tattoo. Neither when I was 20 years old nor when I was 90 years old did I ever getting a tattoo. But I promised, and we have to keep our promises», said Libia in conversation with Metropoles.

However, besides the fact that it all initiated because of an arrangement with her grandson, she also liked the result. «I did it on the arm and it turned out very nice. The result was very good, thank God», expressed the elderly woman, who is the mother of three children, grandmother of nine grandchildren and great-grandmother of four great-grandchildren.

In total, it was a two-hour session to finish the design on the grandmother’s arm and it was not a traumatic process. «I didn’t feel any pain. My daughters went with me. They were talking and smiling the whole time. I see people in the reports saying they suffered a lot of pain, but each one feels it in a different way. Some suffer more, others less. I didn’t feel anything,» he commented.

The sad part of the whole case is that now her grandson will have to move to another state to attend college, but he promised to return regularly to visit. «But he’ll come when he’s on vacation and we’ll find a way to go visit him there too,» said the elderly woman.
