«You’re not cut out for this kind of thing, Estrella. You were raised delicately. In the real world, you have to earn your money by the sweat of your brow. That TikTok stuff isn’t going to do you any good,» her father, who worked as a bricklayer, told her.

Society has changed a lot over the years, and more and more young people have different interests. It used to be normal to see a kid interested in becoming a fireman or a policeman when he grew up, but the desired occupations have mutated with the advent of technology.

This is why children and teenagers are now more inclined to go for jobs related to the internet and the digital world. However, although this is a valid desire, many want to skip school and go straight to making it on social networks.

This is the case of Estrella, a little girl from Mexico who ran into a problem with her father because she wanted to drop out of school to dedicate herself to posting videos on TikTok with her boyfriend in order to earn money. However, her father didn’t like the idea at all because he believes that she’s too young to make such a decision and that it could be detrimental to her future.

For this reason, the father, who works as a bricklayer, decided to take his daughter to his workplace to show her how, in his opinion, school dropouts end up. This was shown in a video shared on the social network TikTok by user Susy Jimenez.

«My daughter had run away from home because she wanted to do TikToks, so I brought her here to the construction site so she can see that it’s not easy to earn money. You have to work hard for money. She says that she can earn more than a professional doing TikToks. She doesn’t want to study», the father is heard saying, while filming the girl.

He then asks her what she thought of the school and her comments were lapidary for him. «It’s not good for anything. I could earn more by being an influencer than by studying and having a profession,» said the little girl.

That’s when her father intervened and said that, if she didn’t study, she would end up begging in the street or working as a laborer, a job that he didn’t denigrate, because he emphasized that it’s honest work, but one that demands a lot of effort. To make her understand and change her mind, he asked her to lift a sack of cement, but the girl wasn’t able to.

“You’re not cut out for this kind of thing, Estrella. You were raised delicately. In the real world, you have to earn your money by the sweat of your brow. That TikTok stuff isn’t going to do you any good,” said the father.
