Joyce went out of her way to take the best possible care of a group of customers who came to the restaurant where she works. They’d been having problems with the temperature of their food, so, despite her efforts and even giving them a discount, they decided not to tip her, making her become frustrated.
Working with customers directly face-to-face is probably one of the most difficult jobs as you’re exposed to constant complaints or problems. As a waitress in a restaurant, Joyce knows this well. On more than one occasion, she has had to deal with the indifference and little empathy of diners.

Joyce Ferrer is 22 years old, but despite her young age, she devotes her life to her job as a waitress at a restaurant in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. However, even though she works hard to provide customers with spectacular service, she doesn’t always get the thanks and kindness from diners.
That’s exactly what happened to her a few days ago, when she waited on one of the tables at the restaurant. The girl provided a luxurious service, but unfortunately one of the customers’ rice was cold. Joyce ran to change the diner’s dinner, talking to the chef, and even giving him a discount at the end of the bill for the mistake.

In fact, the young waitress neglected other tables, just to better serve the group of customers who had been inconvenienced, being empathetic with them. «I did it because I don’t like to be eating when there are problems at the table, with other people’s plates or mine,» the young woman explained in a video on YouTube.
However, when the time came to collect the bill, Joyce was unable to get it because she was doing other work. For this reason, another employee went. To the young woman’s surprise, when she received the bill, she realized that the diners had consumed more than $100 without leaving her a tip, which made her very sad.
Joyce recorded a video recounting her experience in tears, stressing that she doesn’t live off tips but considers it a customer’s kind way of saying thank you for a waitress’s service.

The young woman finally became part of the great and classic social debate, whether tipping waiters or waitresses is mandatory or not. Although it is always a suggestion in restaurants, there are those who believe that you shouldn’t pay extra for a service that you already pay for when you eat.
Yet, other diners agree with Joyce and believe that a tip is the way to thank the waiters for their kind treatment. This time, though, the girl received nothing but frustration.
