Andrew Braund, a 37-year-old British teaching assistant, never imagined that cleaning out the attic of his childhood home would change his life. While going through old belongings, he found a collection of Pokémon cards he thought was lost.

Braund took the cards to a friend’s store that specializes in collectibles, and it was there that he received the news that took his breath away: among the cards were three Charizards that could be worth thousands of dollars each.

“When my friend told me how much the Charizard cards could be worth, I got pretty dizzy. Frankly, I almost had a panic attack,” Braund admitted. With the help of the auction house, he managed to sell them on April 16 for a total of $41,000.

With the money, he and his fiancée, Rachel Moseley, will be able to pay for their wedding in August without worries. “I won’t have to worry anymore about where the money is going to come from,” he celebrated.
