During the Champions League semifinal between Atlético de Madrid and Arsenal, defender Ben White was at the center of controversy after the match with the opposing coach, Diego Simeone.
As he was heading to the tunnel at the Metropolitano stadium, White stepped on Atlético’s crest that is on the floor, something that in football is considered a sign of disrespect; players usually avoid it out of respect for the home club.

The gesture did not go unnoticed. Giuliano Simeone confronted him immediately and then his father, coach Diego Simeone, stepped in, sparking a heated argument in the tunnel that had to be broken up by other players.
A situation that sparked debate both over the act of stepping on the crest and the reaction of the Simeones. One more ingredient for the second leg that will be played in England.
