A viral video caught in a supermarket in Bogota, Colombia, sounded the alarm. A woman exposed a man who started harassing her over her choice of clothing after training at the gym, screaming how she should “Cover up if you don’t want people to look at you!”.
The victim who was visibly affected as she recorded, called for authorities and businesses such as these to reinforce their security measures and not to ignore people in need of help.

This case immediately went viral, sparking a wave of outrage and solidarity online. According to the woman, the fear she felt when confronted in such a way turned into relief when many men inside the store decided to intervene and stop the harassment. Thanks to witnesses, the stalker was finally kicked out of the store, something online users praise as an example of how everyone should act when faced with violence against women in a public setting.

The Ministry of Women Affairs has already set up a hotline to support victims and has abjectly repudiated all forms of violence based in women’s clothing. Bogota’s Police department confirmed both cases are being investigated and the security protocols of the store are being checked, while all possible victims are invited to report their cases to accelerate the juditial process.
