It was almost six o’clock on a Saturday evening in Finleyville, Pennsylvania. One hundred people filled Crossroads Ministries church, some holding babies in their arms and waiting for that evening’s dedication, while Rhonda Barner sang onstage when everything began to shake.
A tornado tore through Union Township in a matter of minutes. It ripped the roof off the office building and sent it into the woods. It knocked the church tower onto the cars parked outside. The service’s livestream suddenly cut out when the camera began moving on its own.
The National Weather Service later confirmed that it was an F1-category tornado. Inside, amid debris and shattered glass, no one died or ended up hospitalized: only a few cuts and minor bruises. The next day, Pastor Ken Barner stepped up to the altar and said that what they had experienced that night was, quite simply, a complete miracle.
