Amanda Axiak, a mother from Wales, is facing the pain of having lost her 11-year-old daughter Alicia-Adele just 15 days after she woke up with a numb arm. Hours later, the sensation spread to her face and one leg, so she was rushed to the hospital.

After several tests, doctors diagnosed her with diffuse midline glioma (DIPG), an aggressive childhood brain tumor that has no cure and cannot be operated on. Although this type of cancer usually carries a life expectancy of between eight and twelve months, Alicia’s condition worsened rapidly and she died on April 25, 2025, only 13 days after the diagnosis.

After the tragedy, her mother launched a campaign to raise funds for childhood brain tumor research and called for greater investment in studies and treatments.
