Jacob McPeake is 11 years old and lives in Gloucester, England.
He decided to grow his hair out to donate it to The Little Princess Trust, an organization that makes free wigs for children who lose their hair during cancer treatments. The reason was deeply personal: several of his grandparents had faced the disease.
But growing his hair came at a high cost among his peers. The teasing was so relentless that he considered cutting it before reaching his goal. Then he received a letter from Guy Thompson, a rugby player and ambassador for the organization, reminding him that his long hair was not a weakness, but an act of generosity and character. Jacob did not give up: he ended up donating 46 centimeters of hair and raising 1.230 pounds, far more than he had imagined.
