She was in bed, sick, when she heard the whimpers of her newborn puppy slowly fading away.

She called her mom again and again, but the phone rang unanswered on the other end. So she did the only thing she could think of: grabbed the keys, put the little dog in the car, and drove a kilometer and a half to the nearest veterinary clinic, without even really knowing how to drive.
A patrol car intercepted her along the way. But when the officer saw her tear-streaked face and understood why she was taking that risk, he didn’t treat her like an offender: he put her and her pet in the patrol car and drove them straight to the clinic. The puppy survived.
Afterward, he went with the girl to her mother’s workplace, not to accuse her, but to tell her that she was raising a brave, compassionate, and intelligent daughter—and that it was already time to teach her how to really drive.
