William saw his mom struggling and got an idea in his head: to get her a car somehow.
Krystal Preston, from Nevada, was going through a difficult financial situation and didn’t have a vehicle to get around with her three children. William, who was 13 at the time, had been doing small jobs around the neighborhood, such as mowing lawns and cleaning yards, to earn some money.
The idea of getting a car came after he watched a video on YouTube of someone surprising their mother with one. Shortly afterward, he found a 1999 Chevrolet Metro for a low price on Facebook and decided to give it a try: he offered the owner his Xbox and gardening work in exchange for the vehicle. At first, she refused, but eventually accepted the deal.
William then called his mom and simply told her: “Mom, I bought you a car”. Krystal thought he was joking until she stepped outside and saw the vehicle waiting for her.
The surprise was so great that she ended up crying and speechless, while William later explained that he never sought to become famous for the gesture.
He was 13 years old, gave up one of his favorite possessions, and put his own work on the table because he wanted to make life a little easier for his mom.
