Shaniqua Tompkins, 50 Cent’s ex-partner, sought to increase the child support she was receiving for their son, but the move ended up backfiring.

Although the rapper was already paying nearly $40,000 a month voluntarily, the court reviewed his finances, the actual expenses, and the child’s needs, and concluded that the amount was excessive.

Instead of raising the payment, the judge reduced it to about $6,700 a month, sparking a heated debate over how much a celebrity should pay in child support.
