Edmilson Alcântara married Karine de Souza, and when photographer Daniel Panisson shared a photo shoot he had taken of them, their story touched the hearts of people around the world. The 28-year-old suffers from a rare skin condition called xeroderma pigmentosum. Due to extreme sensitivity to ultraviolet (UV) rays, when light hits her skin, it depigments it and causes lesions. There is currently no cure.
The photographer took the photos in 2018, but recently shared the album again. Along with the images, he wrote: “Have you ever worried about appearances and forgotten to worry about feelings? Then I invite you to feel and experience the story of Karine and Edmilson. A story so beautiful and full of inspiration that it will awaken the most beautiful sense of life within you.”
