A baby was found dead inside a sofa in a home in Cleaton, Kentucky. He was identified as Grayson Walton and was only 11 months old.
His father had left him in the care of 19-year-old Elijah Mayes on September 11. According to investigators, there are clues implicating Mayes, such as lying and saying that a family friend had picked up Grayson; the young woman denied doing so. Police also maintain that he may have created a fake number and sent himself messages to support that account. The investigation mentions bruises and apparent bite marks on the victim.
Mayes pleaded not guilty and remains in custody, accused of murder and other offenses. Grayson died two weeks before turning one. His family and the community lit candles to remember him.
