In the darkened corners of a remote area in Idaho, a police office ran into 70 year old Alan Bruce who was acting suspiciously. Bruce didn’t know that his cover up plan was about to crumble. At the time, he was trying to throw a dismembered body into the Salmon river after killing and quartering 47 year old Patrick Shelton. What started as a routine patrol night, ended up revealing the most brutal crime in the history of Challis Town.

An investigation revealed that the murder took place after a heated argument over tools and property. Bruce confessed in front of a body cam that he used a chainsaw to quarter his victim’s body, then he burned the remains and threw the ashes into the river so he wouldn’t leave any trail behind.
The accused claimed it was all in self-defense, police found disturbing pictures in his phone that showed him posing with his victim’s body hours before he started erasing all evidence.

After months in court, Alan Bruce was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the 2nd degree murder and evidence tampering. During the trial, Shelton’s daughters expressed their deep pain, calling Bruce a “coward” for the cruelty in which he treated their father’s remains, which stopped them from giving him a proper burial. Bruce is currently 70 years old, which makes it very unlikely he will ever step out of prison again. So he will pay for the rest of his life for the crime that shook the whole community.
