Twenty years later, he still talks about her as if they had just met.
Matthew McConaughey said that before meeting Camila Alves, he had had important relationships, but felt that all of them had been “stops” and not a place to stay. In his mid-30s, he wanted a lifelong partner, a best friend, and the future mother of his children.

So he decided to stop obsessively searching for “the one”. Three months later, he met Camila at a club in Los Angeles. He saw her cross the room in a turquoise dress, approached her to talk, and they ended up talking all night. The following morning, he even accompanied her to retrieve her car, and he had already arranged a date for the next day.
In time, Levi, Vida, and Livingston came along. They got engaged at Christmas in 2011 and married in 2012 at their home in Texas.
McConaughey has said that Camila was also behind important decisions in his life, such as stepping away from romantic comedies for a while to seek different roles and build a more stable life away from Hollywood’s pace.
Two decades, three children, and an entire life later, he still says the same thing: Camila is the only woman he has wanted to stay with.
