A disappearance case in Chile took an even more disturbing turn after the Prosecutor’s Office revealed the relationship that existed between a young woman and one of her uncles, currently accused of kidnapping and murdering her.
According to the investigation, the man was leading a double life and having sexual encounters with women in exchange for money. His own niece, Makarena Tolosa, 29, was reportedly among them, and this arrangement allegedly continued for months.
The detail that now appears to be key is that Makarena allegedly began extorting her uncle by using that relationship as a threat. According to the testimony provided by the accused himself, she told him that if he did not give her money, she would tell his family what had happened. He said that he began transferring various amounts of money to her.
The Prosecutor’s Office detected 49 transfers made by the man to Makarena’s account since 2025 and maintains that the fear that his double life would be exposed may have become the motive for the crime.
Investigators believe that the young woman was deceived into going to the cité where her uncle was staying and that she was subsequently deprived of her liberty and murdered. Her body has still not been found.
The uncle and another relative remain in pretrial detention while the investigation continues. This is the Prosecutor’s Office’s hypothesis, and none of the accused has been convicted.
