Hayden Panettiere took two years to write every page.

She called them ‘lifequakes’. Life earthquakes, those moments that split your life into a before and after. There she recounted the abuse she suffered at 18, when a friend tricked her into going to a powerful man who was waiting for her naked. She also recounted the addiction, the depression that came after becoming a mother, and the pain of not waking up every morning beside her daughter Kaya, the girl she had with Wladimir Klitschko. She wrote that on Nashville the writers ended up copying her own tragedy without knowing it. That she acted out her real pain in front of the cameras while hiding it from everyone else. On May 19, 2026, the book arrived in bookstores.

Three months later, Hayden died at 36. Today, when you read This Is Me: A Reckoning, it no longer seems like just a memoir. It seems like the voice of someone who, without knowing it, was saying goodbye.
