Pippa White doesn’t post photos wearing a clerical collar on her Hinge dating profile.

She’s 31, a vicar in the Church of England, single and looking for a partner on dating apps. On social media, she’s known as “TikTok Vicar”. She lives in Shropshire, an area with an older, fairly static population where, she said, finding another young person took far too much effort. The apps made it easier.

Her profile also doesn’t openly say that she’s a vicar. She explained that sometimes this attracts the wrong kind of people, and she’d rather avoid them. What she does do is leave clues: in the workplace field, she wrote “Church of England” and, under religion, “Christian”. Anyone who wants to connect the dots can.

On ITV’s This Morning, she described her love life as an “absolute nightmare” and said being ordained adds complications. She talked about men bombarding her with questions and confessions, ghosting, and terrible chat-up lines. Vicars in the Church of England can get married, so all she needs, in her words, is to find a man.
