Elizabeth Siders, 33, gave birth on November 20, 2022, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Her daughters, Bailey Lee and Faith Lee, were born at just 24 weeks of gestation with thoracopagus, a condition in which twins’ faces and chests are fused in the womb. They died that same day of natural causes.

Two years later, state records revealed that episode just as Elizabeth and her husband, Gary Siders Jr., were arrested along with the grandparents Gary Siders Sr. and Christina Siders. Authorities found 16 children, ages 1 to 18, living inside a 12-by-12-foot room in their Vinton County home, covered in human waste for at least four years.

None of the children had attended school. Some can barely communicate, and others do not speak at all. The oldest daughter, 18, has a developmental disability and cannot write her own name. The four adults pleaded not guilty to 16 counts of child neglect each and face up to 192 years in prison if convicted.
