Toma Alexandru Zerestea was located safe and sound after remaining lost for almost 3 days in the wilderness area of Rusca, near Sebesu de Jos in Romania.
The 5-year-old boy went missing last Monday, May 11, while his father was carrying out maintenance work on an electric fence in the area. A Black Hawk helicopter from the Ministry of the Interior managed to spot him on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, about 2,4 kilometers from the starting point.
After the rescue, he was taken to the Sibiu Pediatric Clinical Hospital, where doctors confirmed that he is stable despite extreme exhaustion and the cold. The discovery is considered a miracle due to the high presence of carnivorous bears and the storms that were recorded.
