7 million condoms. That’s what Mexico plans to distribute for free while welcoming some 5.5 million tourists for the 2026 World Cup. 🌎
Mexican health authorities designed the campaign to prevent HIV, syphilis, and gonorrhea among domestic and foreign fans in the three host cities: Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey. The condoms will be available at airports, stadiums, bars, and fan zones, along with informational brochures and guidance booths. There will also be information about Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) for higher-risk cases. 🏟️
It’s not the first time a World Cup has triggered this kind of operation: in South Africa 2010, nearly 10 million condoms were distributed. Canada, another host of the tournament, has already launched its own campaign with half a million event-themed condoms.
