Does age matter in love? Iris Jones, an 83-year-old British woman, decided to end her marriage to Mohamed Ibriham, a 37-year-old Egyptian man. The couple married in 2020 after meeting in Cairo and moved to England, but living together became unbearable for the grandmother.
The strain came from cultural differences. She got tired of cleaning, of him speaking Arabic all the time, and of his constant medical complaining. “I regret having met him”, Iris confessed, admitting that she should have listened to the warnings from her family and friends before saying “I do.”
The British woman cut off all communication in July 2023. Now, while she misses her first husband, authorities are evaluating whether Mohamed will be able to stay in the United Kingdom.
