He was 12 years old when he pulled the trigger.
On the night of June 9, 2025, in San Antonio’s West Side, in the 300 block of Otter Drive, a car crashed into a house near Loop 410 and Highway 90. Inside, in the driver’s seat, was 20-year-old Marcus Rene Nolf Estrada, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He died shortly afterward at the hospital. Three suspects fled on foot that night, and police were unable to catch them.
More than a year later, in August 2026, a 13-year-old juvenile was arrested and formally charged with capital murder for that crime. He appeared before Judge William Cruz Shaw in San Antonio juvenile court, where an officer revealed something that chilled the courtroom: they had been unable to locate any relative or guardian to notify them of the arrest.
Weeks later, at a new hearing, the juvenile himself spoke up to plead that they let him go home, promising to comply with every court order. The judge denied his release. His identity remains protected because he is a minor, but the case remains active, and police say he is, for now, the only person in custody.
