The incident occurred in early October 2026, in a town in Russia’s Kirov Region.
The boy was playing when he fell onto a metal bar protruding from the ground. The object pierced his groin and advanced through the abdominal wall until it reached the mediastinum, the area of the chest where the heart is located.

He was rushed to Urzhum Central Hospital.
The doctors consulted with regional specialists, but decided to operate on him immediately because transferring him could be too dangerous.
“We had to act immediately,” explained Irina Koshcheeva, the hospital’s director.
Surgeon Dmitry Golubev described the boy’s survival as “a second birth”, since the bar narrowly missed his vital organs.

After a delicate procedure, the specialists managed to remove the metal and close the wound.
The boy completed his treatment and was discharged from the hospital.
A difference of just a few millimeters could have completely changed the outcome.
