Momo is only 2 years old, but no one explained to her that Halloween costumes aren’t supposed to be this realistic.
The little girl arrived at her preschool dressed as No-Face, the silent, faceless ghost from Spirited Away. Black robe, white mask, slow steps, and not a single word. The effect was immediate: several classmates burst into tears as soon as they saw her walk through the door. Momo, meanwhile, kept walking as if nothing had happened, completely unaware of the panic she was leaving in her wake.
A year earlier, she had already given a hint of what was to come: she dressed up as Ryuk, the shinigami from Death Note, and also turned heads on Japanese social media. Behind both looks is her mom, the true mastermind behind these homemade costumes, so well executed that they look like they came straight out of a professional production. The video from that Halloween ended up going viral thanks to the perfect combination: a 2-year-old girl in total zen mode, while the rest of the class discovered, through tears, that a costume really can be scary.
