Agustín López Gagliasso was 22 years old and was chasing a motorcyclist.
He had been arguing with him in traffic on Rosario’s riverfront and, instead of letting him go, accelerated to 120,7 km/h. His passenger, Giovanna, 20, asked him to slow down. He did not brake. The Peugeot 206 mounted the sidewalk at Wheelwright and Presidente Roca and plowed into a family from Córdoba who were visiting the city.
Tania Gandolfi, 41, and her daughter Agustina García, 17, died at the scene on January 21, 2025. Tania’s husband, Diego, and her younger daughter, Victoria, 6, survived with minor injuries. The investigations confirmed that Gagliasso had 0,2 grams of alcohol in his blood and that he never stepped on the brake.
More than a year and a half later, the court, made up of three female judges, unanimously sentenced him to 16 years in prison for homicide with eventual intent, in addition to a 10-year driving ban. He will serve his sentence at Penitentiary Unit Nº 11 in Piñero.
