It measured 3,9 meters and still took on prey that weighed almost as much as a 3-year-old child.
An African rock python swallowed a 13,8-kilogram porcupine, quills and all. Shortly afterward, it was found dead on a bike trail at the Lake Eland Reserve, in southern KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The images show it stretched out on the ground beside its last meal.

The reserve posted the photos on its Facebook page in 2015, and they went viral, although it doesn’t detail what happened inside the animal or whether the quills were what killed it: it only confirms that it died after eating the porcupine.

Sometimes nature leaves the whole scene behind, without a single explanation.
