Adriana Neagoe was 34 years old and lived alone in Târgu Jiu, Romania.
No one heard from her for five days. It was her family who raised the alarm when she stopped answering calls and messages, which was not normal for her. On January 22, 2025, police and paramedics arrived at her building and had to break down the apartment door because no one was opening it from inside.
What they found was her body lying on the floor, with no obvious signs of violence. Beside her were Anda and Sasha, her two pug dogs, who authorities said had begun feeding on her remains after going without food during the days when no one entered the home. The animals were removed from the property by local authorities, and a judge ordered an autopsy to determine exactly what caused her death.
Her friends and family, shocked, described the discovery as something impossible to come to terms with.
