Theo Cyrillo Marques is 4 years old, lives in Anchieta, Brazil, and his favorite snack comes straight from a beehive. The video his dad Rodrigo recorded to send to the grandparents ended up with millions of views: the little boy, with a straw in his hand, drinking fresh honey while uruçu bees —stingless— circle his fingers without him caring in the slightest.
For the family, it’s part of everyday life. Theo already has “as pets” lizards, crabs, beetles, and even sea urchins. Insect specialist Tânia Mara Guerra confirmed that uruçu bees do not pose any real danger. But on social media, half applaud the upbringing close to nature and the other half are asking for someone to call child protective services.

Is that raising a child with freedom or exposing a child to unnecessary risk? 🐝
