Leo, a boy of just 5 years old, tried to affectionately hug a friend’s dog, but suffered a brutal attack in which the pet, a German shepherd mix, tore his jaw nerves and muscles.
The little boy immediately suffered severe bleeding, which would have been fatal if not for a neighbor who heard the screams and used his own shirt to stop the bleeding until the paramedics arrived.
Thanks to his quick action, the boy was able to be transferred in time to undergo complex reconstructive surgery that lasted several hours at the regional hospital.
Leo is now safe and recovering, but the case continues to generate great outrage because the animal had already attacked another person just a few days earlier. 😓
