On February 19, 2023, 98-year-old Cordelia Mae Hawkins met Zhavia, her great-great-granddaughter of just 7 weeks, in a gathering that brought six generations of the same family under one roof in Kentucky, United States.
The photo shows her, her daughter Frances Snow, her granddaughter Gracie Howell, her great-granddaughter Jacqueline Ledford, and her great-great-granddaughter Jaisline Wilson, the baby’s mother. Gracie, 58, said that her grandmother spent three hours with the newborn in her arms, enjoying every minute.
It all began in 1940, when MaeDell married a 50-year-old man at the age of 16. She had 13 children of her own and became stepmother to 10 more. Today, according to the family tree her family put together, she has 623 descendants, and the next baby to be born will proudly bear that number.
