João Paulo Araujo Gomes does not preach only with words. Since 2013, this priest from the parish of Santana in Gravatá, Brazil, has personally picked up injured or hungry dogs from the streets, taken them to his parish house, given them medical care, baths, and food, and every Sunday seated them near the altar during mass 🐾. The idea is simple and powerful: for the faithful to meet them, touch them, and feel encouraged to formally adopt them. Dozens of dogs have already found homes thanks to this weekly ritual. Those no one adopts do not return to the street — they remain under his care indefinitely. In more than a decade, Father João did not build a shelter or ask for funds: he turned what he already had, his church and his community, into the warmest rescue system in Brazil. 🇧🇷
