Kirk Bangstad, owner of Minocqua Brewing Company in Wisconsin, had an idea he thought was brilliant: promise free beer for everyone on the day Donald Trump dies. He posted it on social media, and it went viral: while some took it with humor, others expressed their outrage.
The problem came from elsewhere: the Wisconsin Department of Revenue notified the brewery that it would revoke its alcohol license after detecting alleged regulatory violations related to beer production and distribution. Bangstad has until August 4 to appeal the decision and says the measure is motivated by political persecution because of his criticism of Trump.
So now he has a legal defense fund, a court battle ahead and a brewery that became more famous for a joke than for its own beer. Trump is still alive, the promotion was never activated, and the business is the one that ended up paying the price. 🍻
