A cube. That is how many described the shape protruding from Donald Trump’s back on Friday at a rally in Long Island.

The scene was captured in a video that outgoing White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt herself uploaded to X: the 80-year-old president walking down from the stage toward the crowd with something rigid showing beneath the fabric of his suit. It did not move, it did not shift, it was simply there. And that was enough for half the internet to start speculating.
Journalist Aaron Rupar joked by asking what contraption he was wearing. George Conway pointed straight to the Depend diaper brand. Martina Navratilova was more straightforward: she said it was a diaper, no beating around the bush. Others mentioned a colostomy bag, or even a butt lift. The White House clarified nothing. And Trump himself, that same night, forgot the name of the official he had just endorsed in his speech.
