The dog climbed aboard without asking permission.
It settled into a seat on the bus as if it had done so all its life, looking out the window at the landscape of San Bernardo, in Santiago, Chile. Any other driver would have gotten it off at the first stop. This one didn’t.

He thought it was cold. He thought that, if he left it outside, it could get lost in traffic and never find its way back, because a stray dog has nowhere to return to. So he simply let it stay, no questions asked, in no hurry, like someone who understands that sometimes compassion needs no explanation.
The video spread quickly and reached thousands of people who, without knowing the driver or the dog, felt that there was something important there: that the most genuine kindness does not seek applause, it simply appears when someone decides to look into the eyes of the one no one else sees.
