A movie theater didn’t receive the official Spider-Man posters, and an employee had the brilliant idea of drawing them by hand

In Prince George, Canada, the official poster for Spider-Man: Brand New Day simply never arrived.

So Drake Landon, a movie theater employee and in-house artist, grabbed a marker and drew his own version: a Spider-Man inspired by the “Spooder-Man” meme, with a handwritten note —spelling mistakes included— apologizing because the real posters never arrived. Someone took a photo of it, uploaded it to Reddit, and from there it never stopped.

Drake told The Hollywood Reporter that the reaction was “very unexpected” and that he still can’t grasp the scale of what happened. At first, he remained anonymous for fear of being accused of fraud, until it was confirmed that he was the author. The funniest part came afterward: as soon as it went viral, Cineplex headquarters called and ordered the poster removed, as if a drawing made with a marker were a threat to the studio. Drake is already planning to sell copies for the fans who have been asking for them.
