A clinic implanted them with the wrong embryo, and the couple spent months raising a girl who was not their biological daughter

Tiffany Score and Steven Mills went to a fertility clinic in Orlando in April 2025 seeking to have one of their own embryos implanted. Shea was born on December 11, and everything seemed normal until genetic testing revealed something no one expected: the girl had no biological connection to them.

The medical center had made a mistake and transferred another couple’s embryo to them. Score and Mills sued the clinic in January 2026, and months later they were able to identify the biological parents through new testing.

Instead of a legal battle, both families reached an agreement on June 12: the couple retains permanent custody of the girl they raised, and the biological parents will be able to see her under confidential terms. They still have another frozen embryo at the same clinic, and it is missing.
