A 37-year-old man suffered a terrible workplace accident while working with a coconut shell-shredding machine in Vietnam.
The accident occurred on December 9, 2025, when the worker, identified as Lê Văn G., became trapped by the machine, which violently compressed his left arm. He was initially taken to a hospital to receive first aid and arrived at the Ho Chi Minh City Hospital for Traumatology and Orthopedics approximately five hours after the accident.
The injury was devastating. The forearm and hand had been crushed, and the bones were fractured into multiple segments, while the soft tissues also showed severe damage and contamination with dirt and machine oil.
The X-ray taken by the doctors shows the result with astonishing clarity: the bones of the forearm and hand had lost their normal shape and appeared practically fragmented.
Due to the severity of the injuries, specialists determined that it was no longer possible to save the limb and had to perform an amputation at the elbow.
The hospital used the case to warn about the risks of working with heavy machinery and the importance of using protective equipment, checking devices before putting them into operation, and remaining focused during work.
