Keylor and Keiler were born at six months’ gestation, so fragile that the doctor told their father, Jairo Palomino: “They might survive or they might not”. Jairo, with his faith intact, simply replied that if God had sent them to him, it was for a reason.
Keylor spent a month and a half hospitalized, but at age three, another blow came: he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, and doctors said he would never walk on his own. In Barranquilla, with no steady work and Jairo driving a motorcycle taxi to support the family, they built a small therapy space in the yard of the house with their own hands.
That is where Keiler, his twin, became his driving force. He supports him, applauds him, and repeats that he can do it with every attempt. Keylor is already making progress and dreams of meeting Luis Díaz and Richard Ríos one day, his idols from the Colombia national team.
