Two photographs of Margot Robbie taken three years apart were enough to spark a discussion about the actress’s appearance.
The first dates to 2023, the year Barbie made Robbie a constant presence on red carpets. The second was taken in 2026 and shows the actress with a rather different look: shorter hair, bangs, and a face that some users thought looked thinner.
The comparison blew up on social media and surpassed 10 million views. Reactions included people who harshly criticized her appearance and said she looked better before. Another user, meanwhile, commented: “She looks happier in the photo on the left”.
But something happened between the two photos that a simple comparison doesn’t show: Robbie became a mother for the first time in 2024.
The actress herself later said that she began filming Wuthering Heights when she was just three months postpartum, a time when she acknowledged being in a different state of mind and having set aside some of her usual routine for preparing for roles.
In addition, some of the contrast in the second photograph is due to an obvious change in style: Robbie debuted a lob with bangs, moving away from the long hair associated with her Barbie era.
What there is no evidence for is attributing the differences in her face to surgery, weight-loss drugs, or health problems, as often happens with this kind of viral comparison.
