Alicia Schiller is serving a 16-year prison sentence in Australia. She was convicted of killing 31-year-old mother of three Tyrelle Evertsen-Mostert in a drug-fueled rage attack in Geelong in 2014.
Today, more than a decade later, Schiller was approved to receive something that thousands of free Australians cannot afford. Ozempic injections and plastic surgery, funded by Victorian taxpayers. The treatment will be administered inside the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre, the maximum-security prison where she remains incarcerated.
The news, revealed by A Current Affair, sparked political and public outrage almost immediately. Opposition spokesman Brad Battin questioned why a killer who chose to overeat should receive the same medication that many diabetic patients struggle to obtain. Radio host Ben Fordham was even more direct: he called the case “free fat jabs” on air. No one has revealed how much this will cost the state.
