A nighttime photograph of the full Moon among clouds ended up looking like something much more unsettling: a huge face with a fixed gaze across the sky.
Some thought it might be an image created with AI, so they asked Meta AI. Its answer was considerably less frightening: it would be pareidolia, the phenomenon that makes our brains find familiar faces and shapes in random patterns.
The Moon acts as the “eye”, while the illuminated clouds create the rest of the face. The small green dots would simply be lens reflections.
But the internet had its own interpretation:
“They are staring intently at me from hell.” 😳
And another user was considerably more optimistic:
“Lovely, what an intense gaze.” 😂
